  1. whole lot of people couldn‚Äôt quite perceive, which is 
  2. what poets do. But I think this is an 
  3. oversimplification of this particular poet. His 
  4. poetry impacted on us, we loved it , but we said it 
  5. was socio-economic cultural analysis. We tried to 
  6. analyze it and it didn‚Äôt stand up. Then we got mad 
  7. at him; we said he was full of baloney. We rejected 
  8. him. Now we look back at him and say he just made 
  9. us think of stuff we would never have thought of 
  10. before. And I think the more that that thinking is 
  11. invested in poetic appetite, the more people are 
  12. going to be able to say he left us with a great 
  13. legacy. In my eulogy at his funeral I said he was a 
  14. pyromaniac of the imagination starting prairie
